About Gillian and

Mindful Relationships

Everything exists in relationship

My name is Gillian Pierce and I am so grateful you are here. I wholeheartedly believe that the quality of our relationships defines the quality of our lives, beginning with our relationship to ourselves.

Relationships throughout our lives take many forms, starting with self and family, friends, our community, pets, spiritual paths, lovers, partners and colleagues. Helping others to navigate this path by providing tools to succeed has become my life’s journey.

That journey began many years ago after my divorce with the simple question, “Why are relationships so difficult, and why do so many fail?”

Co-founding Global Glue Project

The quest to find that answer led my brother and I to co-found Global Glue Project. We interviewed and filmed more than 70 couples in 9 countries to learn the “glue” that makes successful relationships. The results were humbling and gratifying.  Like anything worthwhile, relationships require effort.

The number one realization was that loving behaviors lead to feelings of love, not the other way around. The trap for many is the false notion that feelings of love will lead to a successful partnership. Love is a verb that requires dedication, commitment, and learning from each other. Successful couples work at their relationship and develop tools and strategies that allow their partnership to flourish.

While screening Glue Films, audience members were hungry for more and I had an aha moment to pair Glue Films with expert advice. I created Glue Talks and partnered with relationship experts such as Stan Tatkin, Esther Perel, Terry Real, and Bruce Tift among others. The community came together to learn relationship tools and our aim was to help destigmatize the need to work at a relationship. Audiences of 100-225 people showed up, and many shared that those talks were the gateway to improving their relationships, with one couple crediting the talks to their reconciliation and second marriage to one another. These tools helped people and I wanted to learn more.

The more I learned from Glue couples and relationship experts, the hungrier I became for knowledge and my own healing. The last 10 years of my life have been dedicated to learning and healing myself and my relationships.

My education and background

My hunger for knowledge and pursuit of my own healing is the path that led me to becoming a coach and therapist. My life experience and training culminated with my my ultimate desire to serve and help others. I pursued my Masters in Mindfulness-Based Counseling at Naropa university. I enrolled in Newfield Network’s year-long ontological coaching program. I dove deep into 12-step recovery, discovering and healing my own co-dependent tendencies and addictions. I had the great privilege of studying with renowned yoga and meditation teachers and became a yoga and meditation teacher. I studied further with Stan Tatkin and became PACT Level II certified (Psychobiological Approach to Couple's Therapy) and continued to learn skills to create secure functioning, loving, win-win relationships.

I deepened my belief that we aren’t born with a relationship roadmap. Relationships require us to hone skills and learn our own and another’s owners-manual.

Gratitude

I feel deeply grateful that I have found my path and purpose.

Prior to this work and the last 10 years, I lived and worked in Steamboat Springs for 13 years as a hiking guide, horseback riding instructor, snowboard instructor and mentor/instructor for college students. My love of nature and the outdoors infuses my work and I am grateful to have found equine-facilitated therapy and coaching, as animals and nature provide incredible tools to work with mindfulness and relationships.

My passion for this work strengthens over time. I feel deeply dedicated to serving others to create lives and relationships they love.

I look forward to connecting with you.
